The first two weeks after the announcement for the Fun Event were the most difficult days. Undoubtedly, they were filled with excitement to dance and drink hard. Western Yodhas had announced a Dance Party on the July 24th , 2010 as a part of the Fun Event @ Toast in Rajouri. The date had already been postponed for a week and that added fuel to the fire.

Nevertheless, the day came and the Vinovians made way for the venue. Manjeet and Sandy, had already reached the venue in order to check the arrangements. We, all were warmly welcomed by Toast’s management. The moment we entered, for a minute, we entered into a state of trance because of the elegance of the ambiance. The dim lightning that was prominent enough to add on to the look and feel of a lounge. After a couple of moments, we realised that we are not here to rest when the silence was broken by the rocking welcome of our hosts, the Western Yodhas.

“Aa-mil-ga-mate,” the culture at Vinove to celebrate joining of the new members in the Vinove Family called for the double celebration. This time, our creative ‘keedas’ made the “fuchas” mimic Shakti Kapoor, Hema Malini, Amol Palekar, Gabbar, and every character they could think of. To the best of our expectations, everyone performed really well and even to the worst of their extent. Then, the call opened the bar and the floor as well, and everyone just made a bash towards it.”

There was everything… for all our alcoholic and non-alcoholic jawans! Some rushed to the bar to get their drinks, while some were rocking to the tune. Meanwhile, there was an announcement for the paper dance where our five “hanson ke jode” in their full zeest tried their level best, but Sweety and Venkatesh was the last couple to be on the floor. Each and every couple was mesmerised by the music and the proximity they shared. Then, came the real-time teaser where Western Yodhas have had decided the most weirdest titles one can ever think of.

“Vinove Dada” for our Bossy Boss (I am sure, this would be an another title from my side ; Talli Hua/i to Vivek Avasthi and our dearest HR- Bhavna (Zoinx…). There is still more…. One Pack Man to Sanjiv Singh (and I guess… that would surely have been a one-man nomination) and X-ray man to our little Chandresh.”

And, there again, loads of dancing, drinking and enjoying, and why not… when you are with your colleagues with the spirit of knowing each other well. And, I am pretty sure, we went so high in the wake of dancing and masti, that we did not want the music to stop. However, we had to stop and move ahead for lunch, and had a loads of chit-chat at the lunch table as well. We clicked loads of photographs and made the day memorable.

And, this is the most happening thing about this office that we find or more appropriately, create events for one or the other get together. These in-house activities, Fun Event have become an indispensable part of the Vinove family and a big thanks to Western Yodhas, Parvesh Sir, Bhavna, and all the Vinovians for such a rolling and swaying party.

As promised, in our earlier post we are going to tell you about our next activity we carried out recently as a part of our CSR Program. This time we have made donation in a government- aided school located in Old Delhi, which has taken the initiative of educating girl children. We found that the school is struggling financially where the students, belonging to poor families, are in dire need of supplies from others. For their basic necessities such as uniform, shoes, books, stationary and even meals, they have to be dependent on donations and funding from others. Needless to say that school teachers as well as other staff members contribute a lot and do their best to help these little children.

We thought, any assistance given to the school in the form of belongings or fund can better the lives of girls studying there. After having it discussed with the school principle, we got to know about the requirements students had currently. As we saw children coming to school bare feet and the same was suggested by the school principle, we donated school shoes to kids who were in much need. We also spent time with the children inside the school and got to know more about them, what difficulties they are facing in their day to day lives. It was sad to know that most of these students are deprived of two meals a day or they do not even get meal for two consecutive days at their homes and above all, most of the students find it impossible to pay Rs 10 as their monthly school fee. Deep down in our heart, we were overwhelmed to see their smiling faces after they received this small gift from us.

Consider once before throwing any of your belongings in the dustbin. Isn’t it better to give it to someone who is in real need of it? Think! What happens if one fine day we who have all the privileges are deprived of any one of the basic utilities, what will we do? Then survival for us will become very very difficult. Isn’t it? So, let us together make this world a better, a wiser place to live in by nurturing each child with care and love and giving them what they want.

When we think about sports and games in a life where we are busy with long working hours, we probably think about college students or school kids fighting out on their favourite sports. This is the time when merely the thought of Sports excites everyone of us. So we actualized this thought by organising ‘Vinove Sports League’ that continued for over a month. The main attractions of ultimate Vinove Sports League were Cricket tournaments and Relay Race competition along with Badminton, Football and various other games.

This was an initiative taken up by Vinove to ensure that people working in the company do not only bind themselves to work but also get a chance to relive other dimensions of their lives. Through these interactive sports activities and team building events, they got a chance to reiterate their childhood days in fun filled environment inside and out, which is required by them to work with more enthusiasm along with fun.

Vinove is an organization where we do take care of our employees in terms of fulfilling their necessities whether it is about fun, refreshment or any other. How many of us, in spite of having passion for cricket deep inside our heart, could never get a chance to play on the level field after school or college? Well, Vinove Sports League gave us all of that.

Nevertheless, Cricket has always been the most exciting and most popular match among all. The tournament was played on a league-cum-knock out basis where we had four teams, namely Uttar ke Puttar, Eastern Tigers, Western Yodhas and Southern Surmas vying for the ‘Winner’s Trophy’. Also, we had Relay Race Competition among the four teams. It was understood that winners of semifinals will play final.

The first cricket match was conducted between Uttar ke Puttar and Southern Surmas in which Southern Surmas won the match. And Uttar Ke Putter was the winner of Relay Race. Every player has made an important contribution to the team. While the match was on, other members who were not the part of any of the teams were still found in full spirit as they were shouting, cheering, and boosting up their team members. Rest others were busy in playing Football, Badminton and Frisbee.

The Second round of Cricket match held between Eastern Tigers and Western Yodhas, where Eastern Tigers defeated Western Yodhas in Cricket as well as it was declared the winner of Relay Race as well.

Then came the day when we had our final cricket match between the winners of semi finals, Eastern Tigers and Southern Surmas, and the final Relay Race competition between Eastern Tigers and Uttar ke Puttar. Teams participating in finals believed that campaigning was essential in order to survive or defeat the opposite team and to boost up the moral of their team players. Though the spirit of the game involved respect for opponent teams where all the participating teams were looked enthusiastic, all set to take the challenge of the opponents.

In the final, Eastern Tigers made 175 runs for the loss of two wickets, defeating Southern Surmas by 40 runs, whereas Uttar Ke Puttar went on to win competition by defeating Eastern Tigers in the Relay Race. Eastern Tigers took home Winner’s Trophy with accolades and Uttar ke Puttar got medals.

After having reflected the overwhelming response from increased number of participating and enthusiastic members, Vinove has planned to organize more events as part of Vinove Sports League in the coming months.

Believing on the fact that economic performance and social responsibility can go hand in hand, we have recently made ourselves involved in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes, where we aim to make a genuine consideration of our impact on the communities, and to put our contribution for the betterment of the environment in which we live.

At Vinove Software and Services, we view CSR as a true effort to influence society in a manner that earns the trust and respect for the people living in it. Our members have made notable efforts with the help of whom a significant contribution towards society became possible for us and we are able to fulfill this responsibility aggressively. Our company is actively working in the areas like education, health, skill development, fulfilling needs of poor, empowerment of weaker sections of the society, etc.

Understanding the importance of definition of Kyosie, which is “All people, regardless of race, religion or culture, harmoniously living and working together into the future”, we want to make CSR an important organ of our organization in our own way.

As a part of our first significant CSR activity, we distributed blankets and sweaters to nearly 50 people living near metro construction site. The condition in which these people were living was worse and they were not even provided with proper shelter to cover their head. The next activity we organized was to serve meal and other food items to approx 100 people living in a slum for whom affording two meals a day is difficult. We do not only focus to help these people and fulfill their basic requirements but our responsibility is to work something appreciable, something in favour of our environment.

In our coming blog, we would discuss more on our plans and what contributions we would be making towards social responsibilities as a part of our CSR activities.

New Year celebration does not always mean to celebrate it by partying in a discotheque and get drunk but there are better ways to celebrate this much-awaited occasion. To prove this, we planned to celebrate new year eve in a new way and decided to spend a complete day by being together, playing sports, enjoying water rides, having good food and a lot more.

Yes, the day finally arrived- it was 1st January, 2010. We reached office in the morning with a smile on our face and… excitement in our heart. We were getting ready to board the bus in excitement. Our bus started heading towards the destined spot- Wet n Wild Resort, situated in Gurgaon, Haryana.

Like the name suggests, the place was ultimate wet… as there were several waterslides to enjoy.

As soon as we boarded the bus, we started screaming in joy, wondering how to keep a hold on our throbbing heart beats. People scattered everywhere in the bus, in an attempt to occupy the seats next to their good friends.

Bus ride has always been a part of fun tale, then how could we missed the chance to sing and play Antakshari. Groups divided and we excited! Most enthusiastic among all were Prashant, Bhavna, Neha, Shweta and Manjeet who were enjoying the moment by not following the rules of the game. That was not all, then started the session of taking pictures.

Soon we reached the destination. We shouted in thrill and rushed towards restaurant where we were welcomed with tea, coffee, sandwiches and soft drinks. After having ourselves filled with energy, we geared up to enjoy sports and play other games like bowling alley, pool, carom, badminton, etc. Shweta and Neha soon rushed towards badminton ground to occupy the space, joined with Umar Qazi. A bunch of boys headed towards another ground to enjoy cricket and basket ball.

Not only this, there were some others like Manish Chauhan, Manish Rawat,  Naveen, Saurav, Sameer, Rahul and Prashant who went to pool area and played pool and bowling there. We had never seen someone attempted to score points by rolling balls along the surface so well other than Durgesh, Rajeev, Neha and Manjeet. On the other side, Chandresh and Qazi were silently playing carom.

We reiterated our childhood memories by enjoying rides in children park, where Ruhi and Bhavna caught riding see-saw and Saurav was found playing on a swing. The happening couples of the day, Mohit with his wife, Ashish and his wife and Sanjeev with his wife, were enjoying weather, sitting under a shady terrace with a fishpond view, gossiping and looking others enjoying here and there. To our surprise, Sanjeev with his little daughter did enjoy water ride too in such chilling weather.

We were now tired of playing games. Soon our hungry stomach stopped hearing anything else but the sound of food. So, without wasting time further we headed towards the restaurant to enjoy lip smacking dishes served with delicious cuisines like jalebies, ice creams and dahi bhalle at lunch, oh.. how can we forget them? After our tongue was savored with great tastes, we thought to relax. But the music coming out of discotheque didn’t let our feet to stop tapping on the beats. On this note, we can not forget our two great dancers, Umar and Rakesh who did not feel exhausted and danced to the last tune.

As we were enjoying the moment, a soft romantic song was intentionally played by the DJ to invite couples on the floor. It was great to watch them holding hands in hands and dancing on the slow music.

We did not want the DJ to stop music and come out of disco but we had to keep a check on time also As soon as we reached the hall to had our snacks with evening tea, we were surprised to know that one more activity was waiting ahead for us to take part in, yes that was Tambola. We were overwhelmed once again!

Tambola is always great since it gives us chance to play, enjoy and win few bucks. Unfortunately, each one of us could not be lucky, right! Vishnu was the luckiest among all, who won the game as Full House winner.

We wanted to capture all the fun we had that day by clicking a group picture of ours. And we did that. Now came the time when we had to board the bus to go back. We can never forget the day, it was joyous, momentous, and much more.

Finally, Microsoft is all set to wrap off its much anticipated search engine named Bing, (formerly coded as Kumo). Going to be fully operational from June 3, 2009, Bing is a replacement for Windows Live Search. Unveiled as a ‘Decision Engine’ by Microsoft CEO- Steve Ballmer on May 28, 2009 at the ‘All Things D’ conference in San Diego, the search engine has been started as an attempt to smack down Google’s domination in the search arena.
